What is the Management Challenge? The Australasian Management Challenge has been at the forefront of professional development in local government in Australia and New Zealand for more than 30 years. The Management Challenge is a simulation-based team building, learning and networking program using real local government themes - the types of issues that a senior management team in a council would most likely face. Teams are challenged to respond to a series of tasks in a unique, fast paced, "pressure cooker" environment. Some tasks may require written responses (such as a council report or recommendation document), whilst others may be more interactive and take the form of role plays or presentations – but the mix will be a surprise for the day! The Management Challenge provides an excellent professional development opportunity to become more effective in leading, thinking, communicating, negotiating, decision-making, analysing and engaging. | 2026 Management ChallengeKey Dates Early bird registrations close - Friday 23 January 2026 Registrations close - Friday 20 February 2026 Pre-Challenge Task released - Wednesday 4 March 2026 Pre-Challenge Task due - Wednesday 15 April 2026 Challenge Day - Thursday 23 April 2026 InvestmentEarly Bird Member Council: $5,850.00 + GST = $6,435.00 Non-Member Council: $6,850 + GST = $7,535.00 Pricing after Early Bird closes Member Council: $6,304.55 + GST = $6,935.00 Non-Member Council: $7,304.00 + GST = $8,035.00 ResourcesContact

The Challenge has been at the forefront of professional development in local government in Australia and New Zealand for more than 30 years and provides the professional development opportunity to become more effective in leading, thinking, communicating, negotiating, decision-making, analysing and engaging. Our team at LG Professionals SA always looks forward to seeing participants delve out of their comfort zones and thrive. A huge thank you to all involved in the day, from our Teams to the Mentors, Facilitators and Observers, your engagement and support make this event possible. We reached out to some participants to hear about their experience. "The highlight of the day was walking our DeLorean onto the stage (yes, really!) and laughing at our own jokes in the intro video. It was also great seeing the creativity and effort in everyone else’s videos. The day pushed me in all sorts of ways — especially managing time pressure while brainstorming multiple project ideas. During the training phase, I gained insight into different areas of council and learnt a lot about how I operate both individually and in a team. I also grew as a leader by contributing, supporting others, and learning from those around me."
